The concept for this children’s library is Summer Camp. Summer camp is a place where children are free to explore, become independent, create, and foster friendships. These ideas coincide perfectly with the mission of public libraries. This design allocates specific sections of the camp to different age groups. Older children are located in the woods with a reading lake, younger children are in the cabins, and users of all ages are welcome in the large reading cabin. Families or groups can plan to meet at the campfire to gather and read together. The exterior features a glazing wall making the outdoor space fully visable from the interior, so parents and guardians can feel comfortable while allowing their children to grow independently.
